The aim of the 88 pianists project is to combine music and engineering by getting school kids from around the country to design devices which will allow 88 musicians to play the piano at once (one per key).
For this first session, we brought a big box of levers, strings, pistons and chime bars to Woodthorpe primary school, to allow the students to try the project at a smaller scale and try their inventions out in some music games, before starting on their individual designs.
It was great to see the kids all get really stuck in with the hands-on session and they came up with some really imaginative designs.
