Get ready for uni life
Coursework, exams and late night study sessions are a big part of university life, but they aren't everything - there's also a huge range of exciting societies, groups and activities to take part in.
Joining a society
The university of Sheffield has over 350 societies and sports clubs to get involved with - from crafts to extreme sports, cinema to hitchhiking, there's something available for everyone at the SU. If there isn’t a club or society for you, then you're more than welcome to start your own!
If you don't have time to get stuck in to a society on a regular basis, you can get a taster for different groups and societies with our one-off Give it a Go events.
Meeting new friends
You will have the opportunity to meet your fellow journalism course mates at your introductory sessions and coffee morning during intro week. To make friends with other students across the university, you may also want to download our app: Umii. Umii connects you with students from Sheffield University based on your course, interests and societies.
Download it and start meeting friends today!
International student checklist
If you're an international student, we've compiled a handy checklist of things to do before and after you've arrived - there are also some ideas of things to do that will help you get settled in your Sheffield. Check it out here.
