Anhad was initially apprehensive about experiencing education in a new country. After a few months at Sheffield, he now feels confident that he's made the right decision.

In the beginning, I was less confident about what it would be like adapting to a brand-new education system. Fortunately, things went far better than my expectations!

Developing skills and confidence

The modules in the course are 100% relevant to my career and aspirations, and have helped me to develop the tools and knowledge I require in order to meet industry standards. Through 301 - the academic skills centre - the University has supported me to develop academic writing and research skills and developed efficient studying methods.

The day I met with my dissertation supervisor has to be one of my favourite moments. She gave me the motivation and hope that I can do well in this project! In that meeting, I was able to share all of my worries and doubts, and she helped me to plan a roadmap for completing the dissertation. I never expected I'd be pursuing an advanced topic for my dissertation project!

A welcoming environment

I found Sheffield a quite welcoming and affable city. I am part of the Sikh Society where I have made lots of friends and get the change to go to plenty of social events. I also have tons of conveniences such as accommodation that is close to the university, walkable grocery stores, 24/7 study spaces, career services and workshops, as well as infinite guidance by the professors/instructors.

After graduation, I am hoping to dive into the industry with all of what I have learned in Sheffield. I am excited to apply all of my skills learnt here. The course is providing me with the skills needed for the industry. Assignments and academic writing can be a challenge - I would advise prospective students to prepare for them as much as they can, and take them very seriously!
