Leila Hesson

After graduating from Sheffield Hallam, I have spent a number of years living and working in Sweden and Canada. While in Canada I took my first job in the financial sector, working for one of their big banks as a Banking Advisor. When I returned home in 2021, I continued working within finance for a private company in their Accounts Payable team before moving to the University of Sheffield in 2023.

I currently work across two departments in Information School and the School of Education. As a Senior Finance Assistant, my role is to support the day to day finance activities and assist the Finance officers in both departments.

Responsibilities

• Providing regular reports to ensure expenditure remains within budget.
• Resolve problems and be a point of contact for queries.
• Work with the Finance Officers to maintain systems and procedures.
• Provide efficient procure to pay procedures, including setting up vendors, raising requisitions and purchase orders.
• Review expense claims before submitting for approval and assisting staff with any approved purchases.
