Karen Kitchen

After leaving school I worked in administration roles, studied at night school to get a teaching qualification and then taught office skills/IT in a business college part time, alongside my full time job. I then started at Sheffield Business College full time, assessing Modern Apprentices in Business Administration and IT skills. After maternity leave in 2004, I joined The University of Sheffield as PA to a Professor in the School of Nursing and then The School of Education in 2006 working on a Widening Participation project as the Project Administrator. I have worked on a variety of projects in The School of Education and after this began my role as Research Support. My current role is Research Support Officer which I began in May 2019 for a hub supporting the Information School, School of Education and Journalism Departments.

Responsibilities

Supporting and assisting on a variety of research support activities including undertaking routine research costings, ensuring the smooth set up of successful research applications, and supporting the REF process.
