UN International Day for Rivers

IGSD supported this student-run action day – the UN International Day of Action for Rivers. Despite the global Sustainable Development Goal 14 – Life below Water, rivers are increasingly affected by sewage discharge, pollution and littering.

On this action day, IGSD teamed up with the Student Union and the university-wide Education for Sustainable Development Initiative (led by IGSD Fellow Dr SJ Cooper-Knock) to showcase research projects related to rivers across the university as well as instances SDG 14 is discussed in the curriculum. An interactive exhibit in the SU Plaza featured the projects and offered ideas for getting involved in citizen science and volunteering projects to take action for rivers.
