Speaker Bio
Thomas is a hard-working and passionate Entrepreneur. Co-founding Fyous in 2020, he successfully raised millions of pounds in investment and grants, which he and his business partner used to set up a factory, build a team and grow the business. Thomas has a technical background with a master's in Mechanical Engineering; however favours the commercial, operational, financial and, most importantly, the people side of the business.
Although running a business takes up most of Thomas' time, he is also a Freeman of The Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire, a member of the Bessemer Society and taking an active role in promoting manufacturing businesses in the Sheffield region and also is very active within the start-up business and student community, encouraging and mentoring others to drive their businesses to their full potential.
One of Thomas' passions is sustainability, leading him to foster a strong cycle-to-work culture within the business along with avoiding as many flights as practicable and promoting train travel in its place where possible.
While at University Thomas ran the Formula Student Team where a team of 40 engineers were required to design build and race a single seater racing car and fund it through sponsorship deals with industry. After graduating, Thomas worked as a Design Engineer before quickly moving into the world of Business Development where he played an integral role in taking the Rolls Royce and Unipart Joint Venture, MetLase, from a team of 6 to 30.
