Telecommunications Access Requests

This page outlines the process that external telecommunications engineers must follow in order to gain access to the roofs of University buildings where telecommunications equipment is located.

Please Note: All telecommunications engineers requesting access to University buildings must hold a valid UCard.

UCard Applications / Renewals

To request a UCard please complete this Google Form Telecommunications Engineer UCard Application. For all UCard applications you must submit the following information:

  • Engineer name, company and email address
  • Clear head-shot photo of the engineer
  • Copy of a valid asbestos certificate recognised by UKATA, IATP or ROSPA. If the asbestos training is not recognised by either UKATA, IATP or ROSPA, then submit the training material used and associated qualifications / certification
  • Copy of the company’s public liability insurance certificate 
  • Site specific RAMS

Submit one Google form per individual UCard application and allow 5 working days for the application  to be processed. UCard applications will not be processed if the above information is not provided.

A UCard application must be submitted prior to requesting building access.

Access Requests

If you are requesting access to University buildings and hold a valid UCard please complete this Google Form Telecommunications Engineer Access Request. For all access requests you must submit the following information:

  • Engineer name, company and email address
  • Photo of UCard clearly showing UCard number and expiry date
  • Date and time of the visit
  • Building and site number
  • Copy of the company’s public liability insurance certificate 
  • Site specific RAMS detailing the exact nature of the work to be undertaken during the visit

Submit one Google form per access request and allow 5 working days for the request to be processed. Access  requests will not be processed if the above information is not provided.
