Who are the Student Officers?

Latest Updates

  • Council meetings have been very interesting so far with new policies such as Pro-Choice, Living Wage and even Cyprus. As you are aware the first two were passed and I voted in favour of both. The third will be at the next meeting and I'll let you guys know what happens!
  • I was also voted by fellow Arts & Humanities councillors as your Faculty Representative on the University Senate, the first meeting is tomorrow and I'm looking forward to seeing how the most important decisions at the University are made! I will report back on that soon...
  • The first meeting of the University Senate was very interesting, a number of Pro-Vice Chancellors spoke on the University's plan to remain competitive and move quicker to compete against other top institutions in this climate. Postgraduate funding is looking high on the agenda within the University and will be discussed further, this was part of the University's Vice Chancellor's speech in which he talked about the unsustainability of current government policy. The Students' Union was congratulated on being one of only three in the country where the Union satisfaction is higher than that of the University itself. Other important things to note: we finished early, it was sunny and there was a range of refreshments.
  • Also congratulations to Course Rep Ellie Hodgson from the French department who has won the first Course Rep of the month award, great to see the French department off the line already!
