The X-ray Diffraction Small Research Facility

The new STOE STADI P

The Department of Materials Science & Engineering X-ray Diffraction (XRD) Small Research Facility is one of the UK´s leading laboratory-based diffraction facilities. It houses state-of-the-art equipment essential to the characterisation of a wide array of solid state materials, including electroceramics, cements, refractories, metals and glasses. The laboratory houses 8 diffractometers, details of which can be found on the `Facilities´ quick link.

The facility is used by students of all levels and Academic staff from the department, faculty and the wider University. Contract work is warmly welcomed; for further details, or for a quote on any possible contract work, please feel free to contact Dr. Nik Reeves-McLaren, X-ray Diffraction SRF Manager.

The main applications offered by the XRD SRF are:

More details can be found on the `Applications´ quick link.

For staff and students of the Department of Materials Science & Engineering, the XRD SRF has its own website on uSpace, which contains up-to-date information about the facility, the instrumentation and full documentation for each diffractometer and data analysis.
