Technical Services

Technical services are responsible for 'frontline' maintenance for reactive mechanical and electrical faults, i.e. loss of power, leaks, heating faults, lighting and temperature control.
It is a medium-sized team consisting of 45 people with a wide variety of trades and skills who enjoy the challenge that such a large campus as the University presents. Mechanical and electrical maintenance is the main focus of their activities. Other areas include maintenance and support for the Goodwin Swimming pool, planned maintenance and the control elements.
Because of their knowledge of the buildings, and the infrastructure of the University, they are able to make good strategic decisions to help facilitate maintenance priorities with the limited resources they have at hand.
Small Works
Technical Services also have a small works team. The team carry out small planned refurbishment work and decorating for departments. Circulation space is maintained throughout the University to be painted in a planned manner, thereby keeping the areas clean, tidy and fresh.
They are known as enthusiastic, helpful and greatly appreciated by the sections and departments they have served and are an integral part of Estates & Facilities Management.
