jargon

Don't use jargon, business-speak, corporate buzzwords.

Sometimes we can't help using terms specific to the higher education sector, such as RAE or TQA. Write these terms out in full the first time you use them, followed by the acronym in brackets.


job title

Use capital letters at the start of each word when referring to an individual person.

Tim Chico is Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine in the School of Medicine and Population Health.

Use lower case letters at the start of the words when referring to a job in general.

All heads of department will attend the meeting.
