Sheffield's rising stars of journalism
The rising stars from the UK’s journalism courses, including Sheffield, have been recognised in the shortlist for the 2008 Press Gazette Student Journalism Awards. The awards, announced at the end of June, are a showcase for the journalistic talent of tomorrow. Many previous winners have gone on to national press stardom.
The University of Sheffield was shortlisted in four categories:
- Holly Thompson for Student Feature Writer of the Year award
- Kirsty Ann Hogarth for the Student Radio Journalist of the Year award
- The Election Coverage team for the Student Team of the Year award
- Rhoda Buchanan was shortlisted and won the Student Interviewer of the Year award
The shortlists were decided by judges which included Peter Cole, Head of the Department of Journalism Studies at the University of Sheffield, and some of the leading journalists in the country.
