Since the University of Sheffield AMRC was founded in 2001, it has been committed to creating centres of excellence which make a difference to the advanced manufacturing sector - not only regionally, but nationally and internationally.
It has become a model for research centres worldwide and is part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult.

Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (NAMRC)
The University of Sheffield Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, helps UK companies win work in nuclear. Led by industrial members, NAMRC engineers and sector specialists work with companies to develop innovative techniques and optimised processes for large-scale high-precision manufacturing.
Sheffield Royce Translational Centre (RTC)
The Sheffield Royce Translational Centre helps manufacturing companies in the Sheffield City Region adopt technology to produce and process metal powders.
The centre works with companies to apply research discoveries to their manufacturing, aiming to bridge the gap between metal powder research and its applications for industry.
Laboratory for Verification and Validation (LVV)
The Laboratory for Verification and Validation (LVV) capitalises on the University's expertise for testing large engineering structures under real life vibration conditions.
They aim to make radical improvement in product design, operation and lifetime for engineering structures by testing them under real-life conditions.
Integrated Civil Infrastructure Research Centre (iCAIR)

Sustainable Aviation Fuels Innovation Centre (SAF-IC)
The Sustainable Aviation Fuels Innovation Centre is a bespoke research centre for the development and testing of sustainable aviation fuels. SAF-IC is jointly funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the University of Sheffield.
Gene Therapy Innovation and Manufacturing Centre (GTIMC)
The Gene Therapy Innovation and Manufacturing Centre (GTIMC) has been formed as part of the Innovation Hubs for Gene Therapies. The network of Innovation Hubs for Gene Therapies is a new UK initiative designed to advance the clinical development of new genetic treatments through the production of clinical grade vectors, alongside translational support and regulatory advice.
Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience (SITraN)
The Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience (SITraN) is an essential development in the fight against motor neurone disease and other common neurodegenerative disorders including Parkinson's and dementia, as well as stroke and multiple sclerosis. It was awarded the Queen's Anniversary Award in 2019 and The Future NHS Parliamentary award in 2019 recognising its impact in developing new treatments that give hope to patients and carers.
