Global Corporate Challenge
ScHARR Staff Step Up to the Challenge!
Three teams of ScHARR staff are busily racking up the miles for the Global Corporate Challenge (GCC), along with other colleagues across the University and over 180,000 participants worldwide.
The GCC is a 4 month virtual walking journey around the globe, with teams of seven competing to be the first to complete the course and be awarded the coveted title of ‘Most Active Team in the GCC 2012’. Activity is measured using pedometers, with each team member aiming to reach at least the World Health Organization’s recommendation of 10,000 steps per day.
The GCC aims to have a positive impact not only on the health and wellbeing of participants, but also on their organisations, through increased morale and reduced absenteeism.
ScHARR has representation in the Challenge within the Teaching Support Unit (‘The Seven Wanderers’), Public Health (‘Viv’s Walkers’) and the Clinical Trials Research Unit / Research Design Service (‘Short ScHARR Shock’), with a further 18 teams across the University. All three teams have made a strong start and will be hoping to keep up the pace over the remaining 15 weeks!
