The highest standards
Some are content to be good, but some want to be the best. At Sheffield we're looking for the best.
Join us and you'll become fully versed in the very latest in business theory. But we'll also ask you to engage critically with the content of your course and be a part of our research enterprise.
In other words, we don't just want you to learn it: we want you to analyse it. That's what sets apart an inspirational leader from a competent manager who does things by the book.
If that sounds like a challenge, it is a challenge. Our courses are demanding. But that's why our graduates are so good.
If you've got what it takes, explore our range of degrees and see what appeals.
Your journey with us
So we expect a lot from our students, but we give a lot back. Your journey with us doesn't start and finish with your degree. It's a lifelong relationship.
After we've offered you a place we'll invite you to an open day. You'll tour the department, chat with staff, meet other students. We'll give you a real insight into life as a member of the Management School.
During your course your personal tutor will be on call to help out with any academic or personal issues you might run in to. You can raise any concerns at our staff/student committee, who'll make sure your voice is heard.
After you've graduated, we want you to be part of our active network and we'll continue to support you. We keep up a close relationship with our alumni throughout their careers. When you're looking for employment, you'll still have our careers service on your side. If you set up your own business, we're still here to fall back on for guidance and advice.
What our graduates do
Ninety per cent of our graduates obtain employment within six months of graduation. They go to work for companies like Barclays, KPMG, Procter & Gamble, Rolls-Royce and Tesco.
Their roles are typically in accounting, customer relations, human resource management, information systems, marketing, and operation management and strategy.
Make business a pleasure
Our corporate partnerships mean you can undertake work placements and build links with some of the UK's biggest organisations across a range of sectors. These include Rolls-Royce, DLA Piper, Davy Markham, South Yorkshire Police, Department of Work and Pensions, the Royal Navy, Business in the Community, KPMG, Deloitte and Forgemasters.
You'll also find networking opportunities through two student-run societies – ManSoc and the Student Industrial Society. These are also a great way to make friends quickly and have fun at a range of social events, including trips abroad.
Broaden your horizons
Sheffield is a truly international university, with nearly 25,000 students from 128 countries. As one of the University's largest departments the Management School reflects this diversity. It's a stimulating, cosmopolitan environment that'll broaden your outlook and knowledge.
Some of our courses also offer a chance to spend time studying abroad with one of our partners in Europe, North America, China and Australia. It's an amazing opportunity for personal growth as well as first-hand insight into another culture.
We'll build your awareness of global issues in another way too. At Sheffield we're all about the bigger picture.
