Description

The Childhood and Youth Cluster and Early Childhood Education cluster in the School of Education are collaborating to co-host Visiting Fulbright Scholar Anna Beresin. She will share excerpts of her video micro ethnographic research, offer a brief history of this emerging field, and raise questions for a group discussion. Dr. Beresin is currently studying experimentation and creativity at play in Sheffield’s makerspaces and Adventure Playgrounds. Visit her prior research at annaberesin.com

Anna Beresin is Professor Emerita of Psychology and Folklore at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and coeditor of  the “International Journal of Play.” With Childhood and Youth cluster member Dr. Julia Bishop, she coedited the open access book “Play in a Covid Frame: Everyday Pandemic Creativity in a Time of Isolation.” The book can be downloaded for free from Open Book Publishers.

We will host a lunch reception for informal conversation from 12-12.30pm, with refreshments provided, followed by a hybrid talk by Dr Beresin 12.30-1.30pm, and a Q&A session.
