A big part of what we do is run trips to popular cities across the UK and visit famous tourist attractions. Throughout term we travel every weekend up and down the country giving you the chance see new places without the hassle of you catching public transport. On our trips you will be led by one of Team Give it a Go, the leader takes care of the times and pick up points whilst you sit back and enjoy the ride. Everything will be taken care of for you.
In the event of snow or other adverse weather conditions, please meet at Glossop Road at the allocated time and a decision will be made on the day by the coach driver.
Give it a Go allows you to try something at a student friendly price, there are so many activities to choose from. There really is something for everybody.- Andrea Antoniou, 2nd year English Literature student.
Give it a Go is a great way to meet new people, especially when you’re new to Sheffield. Give it a Go day trips have let me visit places around the UK I would otherwise never have seen. - Dan Harrison, 3rd year Medical student.
Being a staff member for the GIAG programme is great! It's given me the opportunity to enjoy exploring cities across the country as well as meeting a diverse group of new people! I think the GIAG programme is fantastic! I've taken part in loads of different things from archery to chocolate tasting and enjoyed them all! It gives you a great chance to try out things that you may never have tried before without necessarily having to commit to anything expensive or long term. - Kabir Nepal 4th year Medical student.
I joined the University of Sheffield Students' Union as a Give it a go Trip Host and I can say it was a very rewarding employment. I had the opportunity to work alongside the brilliant staff from the Students' Union and share their passion for giving students a chance to visit new and exciting places all around Britain and their sincere care for students' well-being during those trips. I very much enjoyed the experience of being a Trip host as it allowed me to interact with students from different nationalities and made some friends as well. I would highly recommend both the Students' Union as a future employer and GIAG as an unmiss student activity. - Staff
As an international student here in the UK it was important to me to visit and explore other places apart from the lovely city of Sheffield. Participating in Give it a Go Trips has given me this opportunity to enjoy time away from university, visit historical places and learn more about British culture in general. I had the chance to visit places such as the birthplace of Shakespeare, the mystic Stonehenge and admire the beautiful architecture of Bath. These activities enhanced my student experience and I would highly recommend visiting them to new and continuing students.- Participant
