Open days for prospective undergraduates
The best way to find out about the Department, the University and the city, is to come and visit us on one of our open days.
There are two different sorts of open day event: pre-application (University) open days, and post-application (Departmental) open days
Pre-application (University) open days
The University runs 3-4 pre-application open days between June and September. These are intended for those considering University applications in the autumn term. The open days are run for the whole university, with information about university life, finance issues, tours of the campus and accommodation, and the opportunity to go to one or more Departmental talks/tours.
Post-application (Departmental) open days
We host 6-8 post-application, Departmental Open Days from Dec - March to enable prospective students to find out more about the type of academic and social life they can expect in the Department of Animal and Plant Sciences and at the University of Sheffield, to see round the Department, and have a chance to talk to academics and current students.
These open days are available to applicants (and parents/guardians) only. If you make an application to Animal and Plant Sciences, you will automatically be invited to a Departmental open day. Once you receive an invitation then we would be grateful if you could confirm your attendance by booking a place.
Parents and visitors (we request no more than one additional visitor please) are welcome to accompany applicants.
Interviews: for particular degree programmes, or for applicants with non-standard qualifications, we may ask you to attend a short informal interview. You will be notified of this when we respond to your application. If you have been invited for an interview this will take place during your open day visit.

Travel information and directions to the Department can be found our 'Contact us' web pages. One important thing to note however is that parking is limited around the University (most car parks in the campus area are for permit holders only). It is however very straightforward to get to the campus by the Supertram, either from the rail/bus station, or from various Park and Ride facilities on the way into the city. The University travel pages give more information.
